Mandi Myers, a junior at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, took a break from studying elementary education and English to join the Ocean City, NJ, summer project. Worldwide Challenge followed Mandi during "Killing the Giants" week—when students trusted God to conquer their greatest fears concerning evangelism.

For my personal giant, I'm going to call my dad and ask him what's he's been learning about Jesus. He's been reading the gospels and other Christian books, like Letters from a Skeptic and More than a Carpenter. He's said he is behind spiritually and wants to learn enough to catch up to Mom and me. This is an amazing start for a man who has never spent much time reading the Bible or about spiritual issues. Jesus is definitely working in Dad's heart. Yippee!

My ministry goal is to share the gospel with 40 people this week. I should have gone higher because I'm already at seven. Oh well, I'm sure going over your goal is permitted.

Sunday, June 20 (Father's Day)
What if Christ were to come back today? Millions of people wouldn't go to be with Him. I'm calling Dad tonight at 8:30. I need a TON of help from up above!

I know that victory over fear came with my commitment to Jesus Christ, but I am scared! I always have a huge vision, but freak out when I actually talk to someone. This week we want to share with 3,961 people.

I continued on with my study of Ecclesiastes today. The coolest part was 7:21,22. We shouldn't get wrapped up in everything everyone says about us. We will take criticism often for being children of God, but don't let it get to you; it's for the kingdom! Don't take rejection to heart because they are not rejecting you, but God. How sad!

I'm really nervous about this week. I'm scared to share with so many people. Lately, my stomach gets knotted up before we go out. I pray against Satan and his lies in this area. I have victory, in Christ, over fear!
Night and Day | At night, people roamed the Ocean City boardwalk, taking in the smell of fudge and going on amusement-park rides. After talking to vacationers, Mandi and Dave Cook stopped to pray (above). "It's so cool to be around all these people who want to know God better," says Mandi about the relationships formed on a summer project. Those relationships led to a lot of fun.

Monday, June 21
Tonight we had the opportunity to share on the boardwalk. I talked to Melissa, who accepted Christ. I also got to go through the follow-up stuff for the first time on project. I have a new sister, and God used little old me!

My goal looks big right now. After tonight, I have shared with 13. But God is big, and I can do it with Him! I'm just pumped for Melissa. She has really encouraged me to keep sharing. People want and need to know!

Twenty-seven more people to go. Why did I set such a high goal? Tonight Dave and I went over the Four Spiritual Laws booklet, alternating points, with a group of five guys. When we got to the circle diagram, Dave and I split up. He took the two on the right, and I took the three on the left. Rich, Joe and Dan accepted Christ.

Tonight was just an amazing night! I'm pumped! I prayed God would change my attitude, and He did a 180-degree turnaround. Thank You, Father, for a wonderful evening and for using me for Your glory!

Wednesday, June 23
God has given me a new urgency for the lost and has taught me the importance of sharing my faith. He has taken my attitude from a place where I knew I was obligated to share my faith with people, to a place where I am excited to have the opportunity.

I called my dad tonight. God made it so easy to talk to him for the first time ever. We talked about his faith, what he had been reading lately, and what he has been finding.

Thursday, June 24
Susie and I shared with a 16-year-old girl who was totally searching. Julie felt like God wasn't there, and she was undeserving of Him because she had failed Him. She had accepted Christ when she was five, like me. She was interested in knowing God better and experiencing a growing relationship with Him. We told her that we'd call her and set up some more times to talk.

Lord, please continue to use me here. I love being used by YOU, because YOU ROCK!

Friday, June 25
Tonight I went sharing with Steve. We talked to eight people. The first two guys were really hard and not wanting to listen. The second three guys were cool to talk to. We went through the Four Spiritual Laws with them, but no response.

Finally, three girls were practically begging to know how to have a meaningful, personal relationship with Jesus! I was more excited than I have ever been before. One of the girls, Joyce, was asking a million questions, all of them right on the money. She also wanted to know how to get involved with Campus Crusade at her college. She's going to come hang out with us sometime. I e-mailed her already tonight to encourage her. God had cancelled the Bahamas flight she was supposed to leave on this morning so she could meet up with us and talk tonight. Is that not cool or what? How can anyone doubt God's power?

Saturday, June 26
God is greater then we can ever imagine. I went sharing with Jeff, Laura and Chris. Jeff and I shared with a group of guys and two girls.

I did most of the talking with Veronica and Petra. Veronica was from Germany, and Petra from Sweden. Verses and analogies that I could have never thought of were coming out of my mouth like they never have any other time. They had a hard time believing it as truth, but I just told them if they seek God with all of their hearts, they would find Him.

Reading and Writing | The Athens, Wis., native enjoyed quiet moments at the Ambassador's Inn, where most project members lived.

Overall, this week has been super challenging for me. We ended up sharing with over 4,300 people, and we have about 320 new brothers and sisters in Christ. Rock on! I have definitely been stretched to the maximum. I am exhausted mentally and physically. I really felt like God was using me. Seeing so many people come to Christ was amazing.

I am a little sad that "Killing the Giants" week is over because of the unity that was created by everyone striving to reach a common goal. I just pray that I can continue to have a desire to see lost souls come to Christ, and that God will continue to strengthen me in that area. His love for us is unfathomable. I can't wait to see His face and touch His hand.

Lord, thank You for this week and for sending me on project to Ocean City. I want to follow You all of my days, wherever You want me to go. Please use me for Your glory. I love You!
